Smoking is harmful to health

does mugwort get you high

Tobacco is the largest preventable cause of death in the world today, with half of all tobacco users dying from tobacco use. There are currently more than one billion smokers in the world, accounting for about a quarter of the world's population. Tobacco use kills more than five million people worldwide each year. Tobacco use continues to grow in developing countries with steady population growth and aggressive marketing efforts by tobacco companies. If current trends continue, annual deaths due to tobacco use will exceed eight million by 2030; tobacco will kill one billion people by the end of the century - and by some estimates, more than three-quarters of them are concentrated in low- and middle-income countries. Tobacco use is a risk factor for six of the world's top eight causes of death. Smoking can cause tumors in the lungs, larynx, kidneys, bladder, stomach, colon, mouth and esophagus, as well as leukemia, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ischemic heart disease, stroke, miscarriage, premature birth, and birth defects , infertility and other diseases, cause great but preventable suffering and severe loss of productivity. In addition, tobacco use results in enormous economic costs for families and countries, including lost income, reduced productivity, and increased health care costs. Tobacco use is often mistakenly seen as a purely personal choice, but it is not. After fully realizing the health hazards of tobacco use, most smokers intend to quit smoking, but it is often difficult to quit because of the addictive nature of nicotine. Not only that, but the vast global industry of tobacco spends tens of billions of dollars each year on marketing, employing highly skilled lobbyists and advertisers, in an effort to maintain and increase tobacco use.
